This is the privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) of The Scollard Partnership Inc. and its affiliated entities Scollard Equity Partners Inc. and Scollard Advisory Partners Inc. (collectively, “Scollard”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy summarizes the types of Personal Information (defined below) that we collect and how we use and disclose this information.

By using our website (the “Site”) or otherwise providing your Personal Information to us, you signify your consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy. What is Personal Information?

Canadian privacy laws define personal information as information about an identifiable individual (“Personal Information”). However, please note that business contact information, when used to contact an individual in their business capacity, is not treated as Personal Information.

Why Do We Collect, Use and Disclose Personal Information?

The Personal Information we collect may be used by Scollard for the purposes described below, or for other purposes that are disclosed to you and to which you consent.

For example, we may use your Personal Information to:

  • evaluate your financial needs and the suitability of our financial products and services for you;
  • conduct “know your client” due diligence, open your account and fulfil our legal obligations under anti-money laundering and terrorist financing legislation, the Income Tax Act, various securities laws, and other applicable laws, if you choose to invest with Scollard Equity;
  • supply and administer the products or services you have requested, including financial products and services;
  • process and complete transactions with you;
  • protect you and Scollard against errors and fraud;
  • respond to your inquiries;
  • send you informational, marketing, or promotional communications and offers;
  • develop, modify, customize, and improve our products and services;

How Scollard Collects Information Through Technological Means.

We use Google Analytics on our Site to collect information about how users interact with the Site, such as pageviews, requested files and visitor technical data (i.e., the visitor’s device type, operating system and browser type).

When you visit our Site, we may collect information that is automatically sent to us by your web browser. This information may include:

  • your domain name; and
  • your numerical internet protocol (“IP”) address.

  • Service Providers.

We may engage third party service providers to collect, host or process Personal Information on our behalf. We will share with such service providers only the Personal Information that is necessary for the purpose or service for which the service provider is engaged. We will also use contractual and other means to provide a comparable level of protection while the information is being processed by such service providers, including requiring that any Personal Information that we share be used solely to provide us with the specific service for which they were engaged, and for no other purpose.

Some of these service providers may be located outside of Canada where laws of those jurisdictions may provide for a different level of protection for Personal Information than that which is available in Canada.  Laws of some countries permit access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in those jurisdictions according to laws in those jurisdictions. We may use third-party platforms (such as social networking platforms, search engines and other third-party websites) to serve demographically targeted advertisements on those platforms to platform users, based on user data collected by the operators of those platforms. If you use these third party platforms, your receipt of advertising on such platforms is governed by the privacy policy, terms of use, and preference options provided by the provider of the platform in question.

  • Business Transactions.

If we are acquired by a third party we may disclose Personal Information to the third party purchaser and its professional advisors, subject to usage and confidentiality restrictions, in accordance with applicable law. We also may disclose your Personal Information for any other purpose required or permitted by law or to which you consent.

Your Consent.

We collect, use, and disclose your Personal Information only for purposes described in this Privacy Policy, for purposes that we have described to you and for which you have provided your consent, or as permitted or required by law. Your consent may be written, or it may be given verbally, electronically or through your authorized representative(s) Your consent may also be implied or inferred from certain actions, such as by visiting our Site, where this Privacy Policy is posted. Children Under the Age of Majority.

Our Site is not intended for children under the age of majority. No one under the age of majority may provide any personal information through the Site. If you receive a marketing or promotion e-mail or text from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” in the email message itself or by responding to the text with the word STOP.

How We Protect Personal Information.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We help protect your Personal Information in our control by maintaining physical, organizational, and technological safeguards designed to protect Personal Information from unauthorized access. Personal Information may be accessed by persons within our organization who require such access to carry out the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or such other purposes as permitted or required by law. We require that our service providers maintain comparable safeguards and controls.

We retain Personal Information that we collect only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or to meet legal requirements. We destroy Personal Information when it is no longer needed for such purposes.

Note that no method of protecting data is 100% secure, particularly when storing or transmitting data electronically. We cannot guarantee the safety of any information you provide to us.
